A decant is exactly what it sounds like: a bit of perfume poured out of a big original bottle into a small atomizer, so you can carry the same juice in your pocket instead of committing to 100ml of it.

Think about how you actually buy perfume. You smell it on a strip, maybe on your wrist, and it feels great - so you buy the bottle. Two weeks later you realise it turns weird on your skin by hour three, or it smells like the scent your ex wore, and now you own a paperweight that cost ₹8,000. A decant is the workaround for that. You wear it for a couple of weeks - real life, not a perfume counter - and only then decide.

At GRYV every decant is drawn from a genuine bottle of the original house. It is not diluted, not a copy, not "inspired by" (when it is, we say so on the page). It is the real fragrance, decanted cleanly into a labelled atomizer.

Who actually buys decants

People fall into three camps, and honestly most of us are all three at once:

  • The sampler - wants to try five things without buying five bottles. This is where the discovery bundles shine: several 5ml decants at a bundled price.
  • The roamer - already owns a collection and wants a rotation. A couple of decants a month is cheaper than a new bottle a year, and you end up wearing more variety.
  • The traveller - does not want to risk a ₹12,000 bottle in checked luggage. A 5ml atomizer in a cabin bag is the sensible version of the same scent.

Start small

Perfume is deeply personal. The thing you love on paper can sit completely differently on your skin, in your climate, with your chemistry. So start small and be okay being wrong cheaply. A 3ml decant is about ninety sprays - a few weeks of honest wear. If you love it, level up to a bigger size or the bottle. If not, you lost the price of a coffee, not a month's salary.

Store them out of the bathroom

Fragrance degrades with light, heat, and air. Keep decants upright, away from windowsills and steamy bathrooms. The nice part: because a decant is small, you use it up long before it ever has the chance to turn.

About that "is it real?" question

You should always ask it - a lot of "decants" online are refills of cheap oils. The tell is simple: the seller should be able to show you the original bottle, or at minimum be honest about what they sell. Unless a product here is explicitly labelled "inspired by", it is the genuine fragrance from an authentic bottle. We also carry official vials for a few brands - real 1–2ml samples made by the houses themselves.

Wear it properly - a few times, in different settings, on your own skin - and let it decide for you. That is the whole point of the thing.
